DEMO REVIEW: Guns Or Knives

Stef Ketteringham, former guitarist of Push to Fire (reviewed here by this very site) and Strobe45 now has a solo project, Guns or Knives. If this review of his untitled demo CD whets your appetite, you can listen for yourself on his Myspace page.

That brother and sister from Detroit? That ain’t real blues. This is. Even so, Guns or Knives still manages to bring a 21st century white boy slant to 1920s black music with his frenzied, noisy interpretation of Delta standard “Someday Baby”. Conversely, the self-penned “Skies” is achingly beautiful for someone capable of making such a racket with nothing but a battered acoustic. Proof that great guitar playing isn’t about being note perfect – it’s about soul.
